Today, on the second day of the Novena, Thomas escaped from the bookshop for long enough to take this photograph. Our statue of Our Lady of Sorrows is Portuguese. It is based on the account of the three children at Fatima who saw the Blessed Virgin appear as Our Lady of Sorrows on 13 October 1917. You will see that, although the colours are blue and purple, the robes worn by Our Lady are the same style as those on any statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Meanwhile, Frankie has set up a special site for the Novena, with the prayers and sermons. He will be posting Father Anthony’s sermon on the Second Sorrow of Mary (the Flight into Egypt). To visit Frankie’s new site, click the Our Lady of Sorrows Novena link on the side bar, under Sites of Passionist Interest.
